To answer all the questions about the camera and the distance:
I was standing behind the open window hidden through the curtains (and it was pretty cold). The distance was not far perhaps two meters. My camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ 20 with a Leica lense DC Vario-Elmarit 1:2.8/6-72 Asph.
